Advisory Belonging Curriculum | 18-Week Identity & Community Lessons
Your advisory block can do more than announcements and attendance: it can be the place where students actually learn who they are. This 18-week curriculum gives middle school counselors and advisory teachers a complete, belonging-centered program with weekly lessons, printables, and values card discussions that help students explore identity, community, and what it means to belong. Designed with diverse student populations at the center, not as an add-on.
Built for Black and Brown students first. It works for every student in the room.
WHY THIS RESOURCE MATTERS
Advisory and WIN time get handed to adults with no curriculum, no prep period, and no budget. What usually fills the block is silent reading or a worksheet nobody finishes. Meanwhile the students who most need a room where they are already known get twenty more minutes of being managed. Every lesson here runs in twenty minutes, needs no materials beyond the file, and cites its own standards on the page, so you can defend the time to an administrator without building the case first.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL EXPLORE
Six units, three weeks each.
Unit 1. Who Am I? Identity, self-awareness, and cultural pride.
Unit 2. How I Feel. Emotion vocabulary, body awareness, and feeling fluency.
Unit 3. How I Cope. Finding your feet again when stress makes everything feel bigger, and building the personal tools that help you get steady.
Unit 4. How I Connect. Friendship, communication, and relationship skills.
Unit 5. How I Stand Up. Boundaries, advocacy, and navigating systems.
Unit 6. How I Grow. Reflection, goal-setting, and transition planning.
