Black & Brown Girls Finding Their Ground | 6-Session Group Counseling Curriculum
Black and Brown girls are holding a lot, and most of the group counseling resources on TpT were not built with them in mind. This 6-session curriculum gives school counselors a complete small group unit centered on the experiences of Black and Brown girls: identity, belonging, community, voice, and the kind of grounded confidence that comes from knowing you are exactly who you are supposed to be. Everything you need is here to run a meaningful, culturally grounded group starting this week.
Why This Resource Matters
This six-session group counseling curriculum treats Black and Brown girls as meaning-makers with knowledge, strengths, and stories, not problems to fix. Every session is belonging-centered, giving students room to be fully seen.
What Students Will Explore
Identity: naming the parts of self that feel visible, protected, celebrated, or misunderstood.
Belonging: where it's felt, interrupted, and intentionally built.
Emotional vocabulary and body signals, and friendship through reciprocity, boundaries, repair, and care.
Narrative and resilience, closing with a plan for staying connected to self and community.
What's Included
A six-session facilitator guide with purpose, materials, and a suggested 45-50 minute session flow for each session.
Session 3 printable materials and a signals card for in-session use.
ASCA- and CASEL-aligned content throughout.
Who It's For
Grades 6-8. Built for school counselors and student support staff running small group counseling. Use with care: invite, never force, disclosure, and follow school safety and mandated-reporting protocols.
How to Use It
Run the six sessions in sequence as a small group counseling series, approximately 45-50 minutes per session, using the Session 3 printables and signals card when you reach that session.
